Is This A Sign?

Is this a sign? He thought, When he saw the clouded sky as he was about to leave for his first date with Tracy? Or when he forgot his wallet after being on his way to his regular hangout? Or when he found that his wife and his father had a ‘thing’? Or when the mug dropped right before he could drink from it,  Was it a sign? When she couldn’t find her favorite dress to attend that first date, Or when she got stuck in the meeting that prevented her surprise appearance at his favorite hangout? When she found out she preferred the father to the son? When she couldn’t bring herself to turn on the television set? A sign? Some Interview Responses You Wouldn't Dare Give

There are many things we really want to say during a job interview that we wouldn’t say because such truths will definitely set us free from getting the job. So if the job isn’t your dream job career-wise, chances are that the rest of us have to lie at some point but we would call it being diplomatic. Some of our mental responses to interview questions will probably be; Tell me about yourself; Everything I can say is already on my CV so I’d rather you ask specific questions. Why do you want this job? Sigh. This question again. Well, I really need the money and this is the only way I know how to go about getting it. Why do you want to work with us? To be honest, I just want to do this because it’s my only option at the moment while I work on getting my dream job. What are your strengths? I’m a really good footballer and a good cook too, those are my strong points.   What are your weaknesses? I sleep a lot, like a whole lot but that will definitely change when

Some Generalisations You Need To Stop Making

There are a lot of generalizations we make based on personal experience and other forms of information we get from others that tend to cloud our judgment and sometimes hinder us from seeing things from a different angle. Let us open out minds and hearts to see things/people differently. As a result, I made a list of some of these things hoping that we’ll change. All Ijebu people are stingy. Pardon me but I had to start on a personal note. If you think this way, you’ve obviously not met me. Generosity varies based on individuality and is not restricted to ones origin. A wife who’s wealthier than her husband won’t be submissive. I agree that material possessions can affect our actions one way or the other but being submissive is an attitude just like being willing to compromise. If influenced by how much money or things possessed, it’s a problem but not all women have that problem. All conductors and drivers are touts. I’m sure two or more other people apart from me have bein

Four Types Of Truth

So there are different kinds of truth which are inspired by three things – the weight of the confession, the person we are telling it to and our mood. All of these influences our truth so before you believe whatever someone says, you may need to consider some of the kind of truths that exist. And hey, we’re not saying you should begin to disbelieve anyone, just add a little tact to your system, will you? The plain truth. This is actually a model of what the truth should look like which is saying things just the way they are. Calling a spade a spade not just a piece of farm tool. This kind of truth doesn’t care about offending others or other negative consequences attached to truth telling. People who tell this truth do not care about the weight of the truth or the mood in which they tell it, they say it anyway. This is the kind of truth the bible expects us to tell, the kind of one that sets you free – spiritually and conscience wise though. The half-truth. Just the way

From The Back Of My Mind...

There are certain things we need to realize as inhabitants of this part of the world. You may know it already but for the sake of those who don’t, I’m going to state them; People still get jobs without connection; This is very true, scarce but true. You don’t always have to know someone to get it but if you know someone, please take advantage because it might take long before you get it on merit. Imitation can put you in trouble; So they say imitation is limitation, bla bla but there’s more to it than just being limited. Have you noticed how people who do bad stuff don’t get caught until someone just decides to try it once for the first time gets caught and you wonder how that happens? Some people are just lucky with not being caught but the day you decide to try it, jhgjhfghdsjg happens. So before you do that thing because Mr. XYZ does it, consider the kind of trouble you might get into if you get caught.   Good things/people/places are underrated; It’s ver

Even Bananas Know The Truth

The other day when D’Prince of Mavin Records was asked for the inspiration behind his ‘take banana’ song and what banana meant, he told us that he had a friend who really liked banana – the fruit. He said she always made him buy her lots of it so it inspired him to write the song. Between us, we know that’s not the truth, not even close to the truth. If he had a friend who actually liked banana which inspired the song, we already know it’s not the fruity banana, it’s the other one *winks* Before Dagrin died, he was interviewed about his Kondo/Condo song, where he got his inspiration and what condo/kondo meant. He told us that condo/kondo meant condition and successfully centered his explanation on the condition of living, bla bla but again we know that the truth was so far away, the truth was abroad in fact. I’m quite sure (emphasis on quite) that if Tekno is asked about the cassava in his Pana song, he’d probably tell us it means love or something but just like the others
