Why University Changes People

So I read a story on naira-land about a girl who turned from good to bad upon gaining admission into the University and I thought I should do this. I’m sure we would agree with me that the University is an eye opener for many and in some cases, opens their eye negatively, especially when they decide to see everything that throws itself at them. This is not restricted to gender, girls turn bad, boys turn bad as well. Are we saying we should no longer send our kids to the University or anywhere far away from us to prevent them from following this trend, to stop them from joining ‘bad gang’? I’m almost certain that we’ve seen people who changed totally from good to bad as soon as they entered the University, we even have some as friends, or maybe some of us are even examples, who knows? But then, if we don’t do something about it, we will keep seeing them and not only in outsiders, we would see them in our own siblings, and children. So what is the answer to this ‘thing’ freedom is doi

Depression by Amaka Obasi

I stared at this "blank space" for about 15 seconds, wondering what to write, wondering if I even know enough to try to educate others. But eh, I guess I have to try, right? What do we know about depression? What is depression??? Two heavy questions I asked myself time and time and then some more time again. Depression is a state of mind producing serious, long-term lowering of enjoyment of life or inability to visualize a happy future. Simply put, it's a period of unhappiness which can last longer than several weeks and may include ideation of self-inflicted injury or worse...SUICIDE. Writing this, I travel back to my many months of depression, Oh it lasted that long. It was a very, very dark time for me and God how I wanted to come out of it! I couldn't laugh, if I did it was fake, I would lie down and stare blankly while contemplating various harmful things, I wanted to self-destruct etc. I'm a good actress; I did an excellent job at hiding it. I'd pa

Breastfeeding An Eight Year Old, Normal or Nah?

Toh! When some mothers breastfeed their children for six months and even less, someone is breastfeeding a full grown child for eight years and it’s still counting since she hasn’t stopped yet. I remember vising Shiloh many years ago with my mum and siblings, I saw a woman breastfeeding a child almost as tall as I was and I found it really strange but I figured he likely had a spiritual issue and that was why his mum brought him for deliverance or something. I still believed my own theory until I read this. That a woman would purposely be breastfeeding her child for as long as eight years just because it’s done like that in the UK and neglecting her husband in the process. Read story below as narrated by her husband on Joro Olumofin's platform. Now that you’ve read it, what do you think? Cheating And Proud!

Okay, Okay, Okay. Here is a man proud of the kind of person he is, and of course why shouldn’t he be? In this instagram-inspired post, I see a wife who saw all these before he marriage and still stayed. Maybe she thought he would change or get tired of cheating. The truth is, if his father or mother or anyone who raised him couldn’t change him, his friends couldn’t change him, even his past girlfriends couldn’t change him, who are you that you believe you can make that kind of miracle happen? I don’t understand how some people go ahead to get married to people who have flaws they can’t deal with.e.g. marrying a gay guy, a junkie, an alcoholic, a serial cheat, bla bla. According to the story below, his wife was aware and she went ahead to marry him. Now, she can’t deal with it. The man on the other hand doesn’t sound like someone that wants to change anytime soon. If you want to marry another wife because you’re a muslim, go ahead but cheating in the name of being a muslim, haba!. Well,

A Letter To My Boyfriend

Love is sweet when you find the right person and is even sweeter when the person you consider right sees you as the right person too. Oh, you’re probably wondering if it’s my story, nooo, not yet ehn, wait for it. Like I was saying, when I saw the girl’s letter, I was like “awwwww, how sweet” and I was feeling all mushy in an “I-go-love-o” way. The feeling got worse when I saw that he actually replied the letter on the same Instagram platform on which she shared hers, that was when I felt like crying. I couldn’t keep it to myself so I decided to share. See screenshots below: Her love letter: His reply: Cute yeah? After all said and done, they should get married, that would seal it. Do It Yourself

Its 2:56am as I write this and all that has been keeping me awake apart from the fact that I’m an insomniac is instagram videos. No, I’m not a social media freak but I like to laugh so whatever makes me laugh, I do. Do you ever get sad for no reason or is it just me? Do you find yourself crying for no reason and after it, you feel better and stronger? Sometimes, some of us usually have a feeling of emptiness even when we should be filled but then, we are human hence emotional beings. We search from time to time for that thing that can make us truly happy, laugh, sleep without worries but the answer lies within us. When last did you spoil yourself? When last did you buy yourself a new outfit or shoe not because you needed it but because you thought you deserved it? (Except you’re a shopaholic like me), When last did you buy yourself a drink, ice-cream, chocolate or whatever you see as a treat? Or have you tried to go to a fun place (according to your kind of fun) not because you’re bo

The Diary Of A Loner - The 'Stop'

Have you read "my landlord's daughter?" Did you enjoy it? Was it too sexual? (I heard it was). If you've not read any of the series, it only means you have a lot of catching up to do. Click here  to read the previous episode and in it, you'll find the link to the one before it and so forth. Do that quickly and "comman" finish what we started. Let me stop talking so we can read in peace. Enjoy! “Hey babe” I said as I hugged her when I got inside. “Hope I'm not too late?” I asked, “No, you’re right on time” She said. She went ahead to bring out the food and set the table for us to eat. We sat at the dining table this time, not on the couch. It was a not-so-delicious meal of salt with a little bit of rice. “Sorry about the food”, She said. “Naaaa, its nothing” I said, still hungry. “Let me make another one” She said, “I think I should make it this time” I said. We looked at each other and knew that it was the right thing to do then we laughed. I made

The Diary Of A Loner - My Landlord's Daughter

I guess we've all read "the unfinished sexcapade", Oh you've not done that yet? Then you should click here  to do so because you don't want to miss out on any of the episodes. Now that you've read it, kindly enjoy as we continue from where we stopped. “Wake up, wake up” She said as she tapped me on my arm repeatedly until I was fully awake. “Hey what’s up, good morning, what happened last night?” I asked at the same time. “It doesn’t matter now, all that matters is, you need to leave” she said. “I need to leave? Why?” I asked, “Because it’s Monday and I’m going to work, my house keeper would be here soon and I don’t want her to see you here” she continued. I dressed up quickly seeing that she wasn’t joking. She looked really hot in her grey skirt suit, I don’t know how she managed to look hot in everything but she did still. The previous night’s event still got me bothered, how I slept off, what she went to get, everything got me wondering and from her expre
