Love and Money

Dear OTTH readers, I hope we had a nice weekend because mine was very occupied. Our long awaited article on love and money is here. I'm very sure some of you would just look at this topic and say there's no question about this, money first then love. I'd agree with you in a way and I'd also agree with those who think otherwise (they might be very few though) but yea, we all have our reasons.

Money Hmmm, who doesn't like money? The more we get, the more we want, we can never have enough. The desire to get rich and richer becomes more intense as the money increases. I don't know if it happens to anyone else but sometimes when I have money, I don't even feel hungry. Even when I do, I just smile in a the-money-is-there-so-let's-chill-a-bit way.

Love, love, love, love...There's something about that word I just can't explain. Personally though, I'm not the type who loves easily but when I do, I love deeply but I'm not here to talk about that. The definition of love differs because we all subscribe to different school of thoughts hence there's no general definition I would use. According to one of the definitions I found on the Internet, "Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection ("I love my mother") to pleasure ("I loved that meal"). It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment." I'm sure some people won't even agree with this definition as we all think differently.
To some people, love is care while to some, love is being happy for and with others, to some, love is giving and by giving, anything at all while some don't even believe in love at all and some people's definition is not even written here. Of all the definitions here. I'm going to focus on the one that says "love is giving" and I'm going to lay emphasis on money being a gift.

Personally, I believe that love should involve some sort of giving but not all forms of giving has love as it's motive and I'll tell you why. It takes some sort of strong emotion for someone to give you something he or she owns except for people who just have a flare for giving or those who give just for show off. The fact that even the bible made us understand that it's possible to give out the whole world without having love explains it all.
Having known that not all giving has love as it's motive, let's now look at the relationship between love and money. Every romantic relationship needs money at some point to spice up the relationship. Going on dates and other form of outings, steady communication, looking good for yourself and your partner all require money so we can see that money cannot be ruled out of any relationship. This is not to mean that you should save up money just because you want to be in a relationship, start with what you have and your partner should be able to deal. For the ladies, money is not everything. Not all ladies date for money but even the ones that don't usually don't want someone who is "un-rich", I don't want to use the word poor. Due to the increase in hustle by both males and females these days, guys automatically believe that most ladies are after money which is why some guys when woo-ing tend to say things like "money is not your problem, I have the world to give you if you just say yes". That is why some ladies will almost want to see a guy's bank statement before they can date him. I won't blame any of the two though because only the wearer of the shoe can know where it pinches(we all know our motives behind being in a relationship). Besides, some people want both the love and the money. Money makes the love sweet, doesn't necessarily have to be a substantial amount of money but at least something to spice up the relationship.

In conclusion, love and money work hand-in-hand, if you don't have money, you can still love as long as you find someone who'll love you the way you are. If you don't have love and you have money, you'll find someone who's willing to spend your money with you. If you have none, message me so we can work on a solution and if you have both, congratulations, because your love life will be wonderful(not without its own problems though) as long as it's true love.

My Marriage Story...So Far

I get to be asked about how marriage has been a lot by some of my unmarried friends. I’ve not even been married for long enough to be qualified to answer that question. From my little experience, marriage, like any other phase in life isn’t all smooth. It has its ups and downs. There’s an extra respect you get as soon as you get married. I get to be called MA a lot by people who wouldn’t ordinarily call me that and I’m wondering why. I guess it’s just the way the society has made it. Oh and I lost some friends as soon as I got the MRS title. Some people don’t care about how serious your relationship is, they’d still be on your ‘case’ but as soon as you say “I do”, they’d forget you like you never existed. This was good and bad for me because I considered some to be great friends but then, I guess I was wrong. Then there’s the pressure to get pregnant, I got lucky to get pregnant earlier than I thought though I wasn’t even ready. But before my body began announcing it, I still...

Life after Death...real or not?

Life after death....hmmmm      I know we've all heard or read stories about people who lived after they died.      I'm not talking about reincarnation this time, I'm talking about people who were confirmed dead but were still recognised elsewhere alive, hale and hearty.      Okay, there was this lady who resided close to my house diagnosed with tuberculosis or something related because she was drying up real bad, might have been Hiv too (just saying), she usually patronised my shop where soft drinks and snacks were sold. She usually bought only pepsi or 7up, as the spirit led her I guess.      I was very young then and observant too as always so one day she came as usual, bought 7up and left. Not long after she left, I heard that she had died the previous day.      I wondered how someone could be dead and still buy her usual the next day, I thought it was a strange thing so I never told anyone.   ...

My End Of The Year Note

Dear OTTH Readers, how are we? I'm very fine and I can smell 2016 already afterall it's just some hours from now so I guess I'd just use this medium to say merry Christmas in arrears and happy new year in advance. I hope we all "shouted out" to our uncles and aunties, class teachers, lol, don't mind me. I'm sure we remember those Christmas funfairs where kids shout out to their loved ones where some even cry while talking, it's very hilarious watching them. Okay, now to the reason we're here. This year wasn't so bad for me though it didn't start so well but I have a lot to be thankful for and I'm going to share them with you. Let's start with the negatives so the story can have a good ending. For about half of the year, I was jobless which means I was frustrated, broke, you know the drill. Recently too, I lost my school's Vice Chancellor, Mrs. Esther Tchokatcheu who played a very important role in the process of my being a gr...
