7 Things You Must Know About Dating A Writer

Writers are dynamic creators, contextual inventors who sculpt out of nothing something that feeds the eye with excitement and most especially make a meaning to every individual’s sense.

They are easily looked up to due to their pool of wisdom but such power comes with great responsibility and such responsibility can often be a huge weight they can’t carry therefore shifting their personality from what is expected to what is experienced especially when you are dating them.

When I read this article on http://newtonpauls.blogspot.com/, I just had to agree and re-post as I see a lot of these things in myself too.

Here are some few facts everyone should know about dating a writer;

1. Emotionally imbalanced: Just like the weather that smiles today and frown at you tomorrow, writers are usually same way due to enormous activities going on in their brain. Writers beat themselves to break limits in order to expand their capacity. Striving for increase sometimes lead to emotional imbalance that might strain their relationships and somewhat look like sulking babies.

2. Lazy to practice what they preach: Breaking the rules is the sweetest part of everything. Just like some Doctors who are chain smokers/drinkers but advice patients not to partake in smoking or alcohol, writers sometimes do the same. They enjoy breaking the rules with the excuse of trying to gain more experience that can evoke a write up. At this point, you will get to realize that we are all humans and writers aren’t far from perfect itself.

3. Space: A writer can be a grenade at several unexpected occasion that if space isn’t given to it, it will tear you apart with dramatic explosions. Due to the high brain activities and emotional imbalance, they crave for space. They want to be free like the bird in order to absorb as much energy, been too close sometimes can block such energy resulting to unexpected aggression. Because their job is a creative time they need space to recharge their creative-o-metre

“Find out what’s dear to them and do it. Be more active than being passive. They treat you on how you rate their needs.”
4. Keeping late night/Addiction:  When the world is asleep inventors are awake, using the calm quite atmosphere to construct realistic objects, scripts, stories, etc from their image nation. The last thing you want to do is separate a writer from his favorite hobby, toy or whatever, the truth is they cherish it more than you. Before you came they have always loved that activity. Addiction might vary, mine is video games and rock music. Any girl that wants in must adapt to that because it refuels my creative-o-metre.

Here are some ways to enjoy living with a writer are;

I. Constant praises: Writers cherish their works more than their spouse at some point; you can see it as a child that loves his toys so much. One best way to grab hold of their lasting attention is through praises. Who doesn’t love to be praised? This waters the taste bud of a writer’s ego. It makes him/her realize that their effort isn’t wasted and you love them so dear.

II. Encouragement: Writers eat encouragement as a three course meal; reason is because there are several depressing factors that can limit their performance. In order to be steady and balanced, encouragement acts as vitality. The more you do so, the more they enjoy your presence and want more of you. You just need to be a reservoir of wisdom, inspiration and motivation to them if not shutting you out won’t be a difficult task.

III. Speak subtly: The last thing you want to do to a writer is speaking harshly to them. The moment you do so, that’s the moment they begin to refrain from you because they don’t want to pollute their mind-set with aggressive imagery or alien feelings. Even while criticizing their works try and do it in a constructive way in order to avoid your head been smashed lol. Soft speaking is like a smooth massage that takes away aches and stress. Who won’t want to be treated in such a manner?

Wrap up
I can’t date a writer, if you are a writer and have intentions on dating me, just chill. The aforementioned are things I battle with every day, even me know how difficult I can be to myself talk more of having another like myself around me, lol the friction might wear things out.

Well your writer spouse might not have all of these, but these are eye openers that should assist you a little bit before you get into a relationship and begin to wonder how weird it is dating a so called writer.

Good things often go with unexpected flaws that need adequate management and like we all know no one is perfect. However, you can’t date a writer and remain the same; they will break you, mold you, stretch you and evoke the best out of you.

Dunsin's Kitchen - Second Year Anniversary

I’m not a fan of long WhatsApp posts hence the need to write, post and just share the link on one WhatsApp/Instagram post. I’m a bit rusty (writing-wise) sha but I’ll try. I want to talk about how Dunsin’s Kitchen (DK) started because it’s our second anniversary today. I never imagined being a cook at this time, not with banking and family stress. I’ve imagined selling food a couple of times and it was inspired by one boli and beans seller in Asaba during my NYSC in 2014. I told my friend Osaru then that I’d love to start a place like that and call it Boli Kitchen. We just used to laugh about it then plus I’m not really a fan of beans though I could cook it well if I wanted to. Fast forward to 2020, we had a guest- my husband’s colleague who I served jollof rice and she kept talking about how good it was. One day, she said she would love to buy if I could make it for her so I agreed. Then I decided to ask others if they’d like to buy so I wouldn’t be making a small portion and some agr...

My Marriage Story...So Far

I get to be asked about how marriage has been a lot by some of my unmarried friends. I’ve not even been married for long enough to be qualified to answer that question. From my little experience, marriage, like any other phase in life isn’t all smooth. It has its ups and downs. There’s an extra respect you get as soon as you get married. I get to be called MA a lot by people who wouldn’t ordinarily call me that and I’m wondering why. I guess it’s just the way the society has made it. Oh and I lost some friends as soon as I got the MRS title. Some people don’t care about how serious your relationship is, they’d still be on your ‘case’ but as soon as you say “I do”, they’d forget you like you never existed. This was good and bad for me because I considered some to be great friends but then, I guess I was wrong. Then there’s the pressure to get pregnant, I got lucky to get pregnant earlier than I thought though I wasn’t even ready. But before my body began announcing it, I still...

Life after Death...real or not?

Life after death....hmmmm      I know we've all heard or read stories about people who lived after they died.      I'm not talking about reincarnation this time, I'm talking about people who were confirmed dead but were still recognised elsewhere alive, hale and hearty.      Okay, there was this lady who resided close to my house diagnosed with tuberculosis or something related because she was drying up real bad, might have been Hiv too (just saying), she usually patronised my shop where soft drinks and snacks were sold. She usually bought only pepsi or 7up, as the spirit led her I guess.      I was very young then and observant too as always so one day she came as usual, bought 7up and left. Not long after she left, I heard that she had died the previous day.      I wondered how someone could be dead and still buy her usual the next day, I thought it was a strange thing so I never told anyone.   ...
