So I walk up to my
Pastor to ask him if it’s okay for me to smoke while praying (no, I didn’t do
that) then he lectures me about how it seems disrespectful and how my prayers
would probably not even pass through the ceiling of my room talk less of it going
straight to heaven to God himself. Imagine if I had asked him instead if I
could pray while smoking, he’d have most likely seen no wrong with it because
one is expected to be able to pray anytime regardless of what we were doing
before deciding to pray.
That’s exactly how
most of us pray. The problem isn’t in what we ask for but how we ask for it. Even
the bible (apologies to non-bible readers) says that most of don’t receive
answers to our prayers because we ask amiss/wrongly/out of order. So we know
what we want, but putting them in the way it should be, saying them as it is
meant to sound becomes a challenge which ends up being the reason behind many
of our unanswered prayers.
If you were God,
what kind of prayers will you give answers to? What kind of prayers will sound
logical and worth giving a shot to you? God is not like man of course but he
has made us in his likeness so there should be more to his likeness in us other
than the obvious. We have the ability to think like a god too so we have been
given the ability to ask right, we just have to use it.
God himself didn’t
say ‘if there was light, things would have been different’, he said ‘let there
be light’ and the bible didn’t say ‘and light came a day later’, it said ‘and
there was light’. You just need to ask right. Maybe that’s another thing you
should pray about, how to pray right. I say AMEN to your prayers and pray that
we pray right.
