The Marriage Criteria; My Thoughts

I was involved in a discussion with some of my colleagues sometime last week and we were talking about marriage, it was an interesting one though. Amidst the jokes and all, I got some things to take home with me and I want to share my thoughts. I'm 22 and I already get questions like "when are you getting married because there's no time", "don't think you're too young", but I'm like ahn ahn, what do I have yet? and that's not my only reason. What's the point of going into something because it is expected of you? Make the right choice because at the end of the day, it's just you, you and you. It's you who would face the music. Personally, I believe a woman should try to achieve as much as a man tries to achieve before marriage.i.e. If a man wants to have 10million naira in his account before marriage, why shouldn't a woman also strive to have 10million naira equally or at least ten percent which is 1million? This is not to me...

To Those Who Have Trust Issues...

I started writing this article last month but there was no inspiration to continue until now,I'm stuck in traffic and I decided to make judicious use of the two hours or more of my life wasting in traffic knowing I won't get it back. I hope you're not in traffic while reading this but if you are, the Lord is your strength. Let's proceed anyways. Some of us don't trust ourselves, I mean, how do you do that? You not trusting you very own self, that's why we hear people say "I don't even trust myself" and then you expect someone who doesn't trust him or herself to trust you? How? Is it not what you have that you'd extend towards others? Some of us don't just trust others even when it comes to the tiniest of issues. We don't trust others to make decisions for themselves and sometimes we don't even trust them enough to make suggestions concerning anything related to us. It gets even worse with some people that they can't ev...

How I Spent My Last Weekend

My weekend started fine until....Let me start from the beginning. It started on friday, I went to bestie's place from work, she stays at Ikotun, Lagos. We gisted and all then decided to hangout for like an hour. We went somewhere that was cool at first until we ate the worst turkey peppersoup ever but it was all good since the food didn't matter as much as being around each other. We got home and had dinner (remember we're both foodies yea?), I had spaghetti, egg, snail and fish (dinner of life) then drank malt while Bisi had her best food, bread and tea which is like *ewwww* to me. I showered and rested well. It was a good night and I had a good night rest. It was Saturday morning, cool morning we didn't want to get out of bed especially Bisi but hunger won't let us soo we began debating on what to eat. Our choices ranged from spaghetti bolognese to white rice to fried rice to amala, all of which we'd have to make so we chose the simplest out of laziness an...

Imponderables

Staring into the darkness in a way that depicts I understand it but do I really? Trying to ponder on the imponderables leaving out the possibility of a higher being responsible for things unexplainable, I curiously think on... How do I explain the concept behind the creation of the heaven and the earth? How do I understand the mystery of life and death? How does someone just live today and die tomorrow? What happens after our death? Where do we go to when we die? When is the poor going to be as rich as the rich? Will they ever? Why do we want to be rich? How do we measure riches? How rich is rich? Why do we go through challenges? If it's to make us stronger, aren't we strong enough yet? What are we trying to be strong for or against? Why do we lie? To save our own face or someone else's or just for the love we have for lying? Why do we cry? To express joy or sadness or a mixture of both? What is love? How do we know when we are in ...

Mobile Tailors; the encounter

I'm sure you're wondering what I want to write about mobile tailors but my dear readers, I saw something and that's what I want to show you or better still tell you but I'm sure most of you if not all must have had even the tiniest experience with them. I never thought I would write about this until one day...before I get to the point, let me start from the beginning. Mobile tailors are called by different names depending on the preference of the caller. Some people call them obioma (good heart), ejikanishop (shoulder is the shop, my favorite name) but for the purpose of this article, they are mobile tailors. They're the ones with their machines on their shoulders and you know they're just around the corner when you hear the sound of their scissors as they open and close it. I usually make use of their services because the nature of their job allows them go from house to house hence home service. Another reason is because it gives me the opportunity to make ...

Hurt

I look at you but I can't see you I try as much as I can but I still can't I wonder why Nothing comes to mind I keep wondering Nothing still But then You gave me nothing to remember It wasn't a total waste of time But it was not worth it I'm still wondering Okay, the memory is coming back now I remember the lies You told them perfectly Like a movie star would act out a script You acted without erring I'm hurt Not because you lied to me Or because you took advantage of me Or because you walked out when you were mostly needed Or because you disrespected me Or because you chose others over me Or because you didn't talk to me enough I'm hurt because you became everything you swore you wouldn't I'm hurt because you did everything you vowed you wouldn't I'm hurt because you are a lie in totality I'm hurt because you became everything I've always loathed I'm hurt because I hate and love you at the same time ...

What Do You Want In A Man?

More often than not, I get asked this question by friends (guys mostly), those who want to date or just out of curiosity, and when I'm done mentioning what I want, I get the "you need Jesus or just create him" response, only a few usually believe I'm not asking for much but make me realise that its hard to find all the qualities you want in one man. We all want something in a man and our desires differ but when our (all ladies) desires in a man are compared, we'd see that we want almost the same thing. What's wrong with a girl wanting a tall, dark(black is beautiful, not in a charcoal way tho') and handsome guy, not necessarily super cute but good-looking at least. I'm not a tall person, doesn't mean I'm short though, let's say I'm small hence I need a taller partner because I don't want dwarfs as children and I want someone I can stand on my toes to hug(awww, cute yh?). Okay, enough of the superficial attributes not because it doe...
