The 'Candle' Kind Of Lifestyle

A candle that lights other candles doesn’t lose its own light or fire, however you like it. This is a line that a lot of people don’t subscribe to although they might not openly admit it. A lot of people find it difficult to share ideas with people especially when they know it’s an idea that can change the life of others. I remember back in school during group studying and the likes, there were some particular people that would always claim to have “no idea” on purpose no matter the subject discussed. They did this to learn about everyone else’s ideas and add it to theirs “almighty” knowledge. It worked though, I must admit. But then, it got me thinking about if there was something wrong with all of us succeeding together. Yes, not everyone would be successful, rich, or progress, it’s sad but that’s the truth but I believe that if you have the opportunity to make someone’s life better, you should. Especially when it won’t affect you negatively. Some people are scared of other people

The Male-stitute

The other day, I wrote about “The Hustle Of Many Colors”, you can click here  to read. In that post, I talked about different kind of hustles except one which I omitted on purpose as I saw it as a topic for another day and I think today is the day. I decided to write about this when I read an article on nairaland about guys who prefer sugar mummies to young girls with great emphasis on SUGAR MUMMIES. According to them, a sugar mummy knows what she wants and how she wants it unlike young ladies. Advocates of the sugar mummy 'thingy' also made it clear that sugar mummies hardly complain about everything unlike young ladies who whine over almost everything. They also believe that young girls have financial demands that need to be met while the reverse is the case with sugar mummies who even meets their own financial demands when all they have to do in return is wow them sexually. We could go on and on with the benefits of being with a sugar mummy as against being with a singl

Marriage Humbles Women?

"Marriage humbles women" is a statement I can contest from now till forever. I don't understand how marriage humbles women, it doesn't even humble men. Marriage doesn't humble anyone as far as I'm concerned, you'll be humble if you were before marriage. Marriage will even allow you display attitudes that were laying low before it, hence, it brings out the real "you". The statement that inspired this write up was the one someone said women shouldn't acquire material things before marriage because if they do, they won't be humble and I'm like fhghffgfhj? Where is this coming from? It's not okay for a woman to buy a house, a car etcetera before marriage if she has the means because it won't make her humble in the marriage? Humility and submission are two different concepts and shouldn't be mixed up. A woman should be submissive after marriage but it doesn't mean she will because she was who she was before she got marrie

The Truth About "Friends With Benefits"

Friends with benefits also known as fwb is a kind of relationship many people go into in this 21st century, people go into it as a result of sexual feelings they want to act upon without being in the real deal (the boyfriend/girlfriend kind). In a lot of cases, both parties might most likely have relationships with others but still want their 'fwb' partner, no strings attached. Its been originally designed to be a relationship where both parties benefit equally, for instance, the guy gets sex while the girl gets money/connection or the other way around. These days though, both parties most likely wants the same thing - sex which makes the deal even easier. The deal is one that allows both parties to have other sexual partners without anyone getting jealous or feeling cheated. That's the greatest lie anyone can tell themselves in a friends with benefits relationship. That's the purpose of this piece - to tell you the truth. When going into a business partnership, the t

Operation Upgrade

The other day I wrote about competition  not been a way you should live your life but as much as I believe you shouldn't compete with anyone, I believe you owe it yourself to always try to be on top of your game. Being on top of your game only means that you should always be at your best because the truth is that, if you don't do it for you, no one would do it for you. You just have to do it for you.  If you take a look back at the people you've known, where they were and where they are right now, you would agree with me that in most cases, there has been an improvement, no matter how little. While taking a look back earlier, I'm sure you would remember one or two persons that never made any effort to upgrade, and now they're still not making any effort to. Those are the kinds of people you don't want around you. The people who are needy on purpose. It's a different case if the circumstances surrounding you do not give room for you to stand alone or to be

Suicide

It's painful to lose people we do not know personally, how much more people we know. People die, we all will someday whether we like it or not but then it's surprising that some people take their own lives when they were still going to die anyway. We watch it in movies, we hear about it and read about it every time. Its saddening in every form. Remember the bollywood movie three idiots, where Joy Lobo, the engineering student committed suicide due to frustration as a result of his unapproved project by his very hard-to-please professor and that's just one in a thousand cases. A lot of people commit suicide for a lot of reasons ranging from rejection to frustration, terrorism, debt, inferiority complex, feelings of emptiness, even sickness and so forth. The list is endless. Last week, I read a story about an 18 year old who committed suicide because he felt his parents were giving more attention to his sister's academic performance than his which wasn't as good. Yo

How I Discovered I Was A Runz Girl

Looking out the window, thinking really deep about all that is going on right now...lol, I bet you thought I was going to write about something deep, yeah me too. I was supposed to post something else today but it's still being worked on so I thought, why not share a throwback story then we deliberated on it and decided it was the best thing to do so here we are. I'm going to be gisting us about how I discovered I was a runz girl at a time I least expected it, lol. You know how you don't know what you are until someone tells you and you're like, "oh really, I didn't know, thank you very much for taking the pain to let me know". That was what happened that fateful saturday morning. The gist begins.... I don't understand some people. Different people, different school of thoughts or should I just say different folks, different strokes because I don't know how you'd see someone sitting alone at a open place and believe she's there waiting fo

The Scam

Dear OTTH readers, how are we? Well, I'm very fine just in case you were wondering how I was too. Today, I'm going to be talking about something that has been bothering me but I never really had the inspiration to write about it until something happened to Jerrey's friend which inspired this. Actually, Jerrey told me to write about it since God-knows-when and since I had a similar experience, I thought, why not? So here we are. Jerrey's friend was told that he "got" a job with a customer care agency whose name I never cared to ask for because we have them all over. So his friend got a job and was told to bring 53 thousand naira for training after which they were probably going to decide if he was fit for the job and that was the same thing one other agency told my friend Funmi, maybe it's the same agency sef, who knows. I'm a customer care representative myself and I wasn't asked to pay a dime for training, infact, I was paid for it. 53 thousand
