To 'Miss Girlfriend-Housewife'

Dear OTTH readers, I hope our week is going on as planned because mine is even better than I expected. Few days ago, I was chatting with Bola, one of the sweetest hearts I know and one thing led to another till it eventually led to me writing this right now. She actually made me write this but then I thought about it and I felt it should be written and if possible, stapled on the brain of every female in Nigeria especially the ones in the universities. Please allow me vent in this article because it's quite painful when you see certain things happening without anyone feeling there's something wrong with it. You're probably wondering what it was that we discussed but not to worry, you'd know in a bit. How would a female who God has created wonderfully and fearfully and in his own image for the purpose of doing exploit, going places her generation has never been to, pack all her things(or most of them) and go live with her boyfriend? It beats me beyond reason and please

Love and Money

Dear OTTH readers, I hope we had a nice weekend because mine was very occupied. Our long awaited article on love and money is here. I'm very sure some of you would just look at this topic and say there's no question about this, money first then love. I'd agree with you in a way and I'd also agree with those who think otherwise (they might be very few though) but yea, we all have our reasons. Money Hmmm, who doesn't like money? The more we get, the more we want, we can never have enough. The desire to get rich and richer becomes more intense as the money increases. I don't know if it happens to anyone else but sometimes when I have money, I don't even feel hungry. Even when I do, I just smile in a the-money-is-there-so-let's-chill-a-bit way. Love, love, love, love...There's something about that word I just can't explain. Personally though, I'm not the type who loves easily but when I do, I love deeply but I'm not here to talk about tha

The Zone-ing

Dear OTTH readers, I hope we're fine. It's almost weekend, Yaaaay, for those who don't work on weekends though. I postponed the posting of my article on love and money again because I've realised that there's an issue we need to clarify. It might sound very funny but we all need to know the zone we belong to in a person's life. When it comes to zoning, I have experience because I have zoned people and I've also been zoned by people and I'm sure I'm not alone on this one. Raise your hands if you've never zoned or been zoned *lowers glasses*, I see no hands so I guess we're even. There are different types of zones, they are; Heavenly Zone-ing This is when you and a member of the opposite sex share the same birth date and as a result can't date because it is believed by one of the two people that sharing the same birth date means you were siblings in heaven hence any romantic relationship would be counted as incest. Brother/Sister Zo

Dear Jennifer, Where Did You Get That Ass From?

Dear OTTH readers, hope you all had a nice weekend because I had the best weekend of my life that I've not had in a long time. I rested a lot, watched a lot of movies and ate a lot too, you know the feeling yea? I was going to write about love and money until I saw Jennifer(not her real name though) and I said I'd write about her instead. Let's just say I'm in the "amebo" mood but I really need your honest opinion when I'm done telling you everything I'm about to. If you know me well, you'd know I have a lot of sexy friends and I'm not jealous of their shape or size coupled with the fact that I don't look bad myself. I'm saying this so you won't think I'm jealous of Jennifer's ass (permit me to use the word "ass" throughout this write up). Let me tell you about Jennifer. Jennifer is the first child of her parents, she has a little sister and a little brother. Her mum owns a school while her dad is a lawyer but he

Where Can I Download "Wifey".....The Throwback Story

Dear OTTH readers, I hope we're fine and not too stressed, last week, I promised to tell us a throwback story today so I decided to fulfil my promise. Here's the story... It happened one day between September and November, 2012. I was working at Murtala Mohammed International Airport as an intern in the public affairs department. We were three interns in my office, I, Tony and one girl whose name I can't remember but she inspired this write up and I'd tell you how as we proceed with this story. One of the things I loved about the airport asides the good people that I was working with was free WiFi. You know how Nigerians like free things, in my case, it was and still is free Internet. During that period, I usually took it upon myself to write down all the latest songs I liked from trace then go to work and download them with free Wifi. I also used the free Wifi to facebook and all. One day, I was taking a walk with my female colleague then we got talking, one thi

The Competition

I hate competing but I love watching competitions that has a sort of reward attached to it though I wouldn't compete even if I have what it takes. I believe everyone is a genius in something, you just have to find out what it is that lies within you and work hard to be good at it instead of trying to be better than someone else. In the real world though, people compete over things that are not worth the stress or maybe that's just what I think but what's the use of trying to look better than someone, drive a better car than someone, make more money than someone, even to the extent of trying to speak in tongues better than another person? What is the point? What happened to the idea of originality? It's becoming extinct now yea? Even if you have a role model you want to be like, does it mean you should lose yourself in the process? It's tiring watching people lose themselves all in the name of trying to be like someone else. If you have something you admire about s

Public Transport In Lagos; My Experience

Good Morning Dear OTTH Readers, I hope we’re fine this morning? We should be fine since it’s almost the end of the week so we can rest from the stress of the week and even chill out or turn up. I was going to tell us a throwback story today since its throwback Thursday but something serious happened on Monday so I said I would write about it instead and keep my throwback story for later. Before now, I’ve told myself and God and I still keep telling God that I don’t want to take public transport when I’m pregnant and even when I have kids because what I experience as a single person isn’t something I want my unborn and born children to experience.   I don’t want my children to take public transport until they are grown enough to handle the hustle and bustle of Lagos (if I’m based in Lagos when I have kids). Dear future husband, please note; NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT WHEN I START HAVING KIDS.   Here’s my story…… On Monday, on my way back home from work through public transport, th

Are We Still Speaking The Same English?

Good Morning Dear Readers of OTTH, I hope you had a nice weekend because mine was uggghh! I was going to write this yesterday but due to one reason and the other I couldn’t. There’s something that has been bugging me for a while now and since I was thinking of what to write, I decided to write about it. It might sound funny but its something serious oooo, hits me like a bullet every time it happens. Enough of the intro ba? You people like gist ehnnn but let me sha continue.  Last week Sunday, just this last week ooo, I went to church and the choir presented a very beautiful song which was very perfect except for the person who led the song who is the one that inspired this write-up. Before I continue, biko let me ask, is it by force to form an accent you don’t have? Because I don’t understand, well I’ll come back to that. So, he was pronouncing worship as “wrorsrip”, and believe me it sounded very funny and annoying at the same time. That wasn’t the only one he pronounced like

Throwback: The Bra Incident

Since it's throwback thursday and also the first of October, I decided to tell us a short throwback story of an event that took place on the first of October, 2010. The story goes thus... I and Ope, my older brother were in the city of Abuja at the time visiting our Aunt who's a cosmetologist. Days passed and the first of october came. We were home watching movies until my Aunt said we should go to a church called COZA (can't remember the full meaning but I think the c stands for confederation while the z stands for zion) so we added a touch of green to our outfits. I'm going to describe my outfit because that's what prompted this write up. My aunt gave me this black bra that had a cross-back and would have to be hooked from the front instead of the regular bra one would have to hook from behind. I wore the bra under a long-sleeved elastic green top on a blue jean and I was good to go. We got to COZA, the service had already started so we joined in. My aunt and
